SUNDAY

MINIATURE GAME DAY
Imagine a pack of grognards (led by our own Nik and Charles) ambling in every Sunday, by 11 AM or so, scratching their chins, and settling on the game of the day.  They’re real fond of 40K, and Warmachine, but are pretty open to most anything (AT-43’s beginning to make an appearance).  What you get, newbie, are real experienced hands, with really nice miniatures (you gotta check out ‘the case’ in our back room), and eager for fresh blood.  You would be surprised how quick you could be part of the scene.  For more info, contact our two boys at the store.

OPEN ROLEPLAYING GAME!
Ryan Singer (650 743-2785 or ryan.singer@gmail.com), who’s real good, is starting up a ‘Pathfinder’ campaign, that’ll take the players from farm kid to champeen o’ the world.  What I like about it is that it ain’t a ‘train on tracks’ sort of thing, but more of scenic meander through the world with a lot of opportunities for ‘going off the map’.  If you’re new, or old, to RPGs, come on by on Sundays, at 1 PM.  You’ll like this.

ALL STAR WARS, ALL THE TIME
Well, you’ve got your choice now—the original collectable miniatures (ships and guys), OR the new punch-n’-play CCG version.  Henry Beal (510 691-8256) will be messing around with them both, so strap on your white, plastic armor, and come on by (check the calendar first for times and ‘styles’).

MONDAY

THE BEST GAME EVER?
Go.  The game of black and white stones laid on a grid.  Take turns placing stones on intersections; try to cut off your opponent’s stones from clear intersections; whoever controls the most clear intersections in the end wins.  That’s it, but the game’s thousands of years old, wonderfully complicated, and beautiful (in the interplay of black and white) to watch and play.  The Berkeley Go club is here every Monday at 6PM to get you started.

MARVELOUS EVENT
On Monday, July 14th, at 6 PM, our VS crowd will be celebrating the release of the latest set, ‘Marvel Universe’.  Format will be determined by product availability (it’s looking for hen’s teeth, trying to find more of that stuff).  Contact Brian (or John) at the store for more info.

IT’S CLOBBERIN…HEY, HOW MANY HULKS CAN I GET FOR MY THING?
Monday, 5:00, our VS (Marvel/DC Collectable Card Game) crowd gets together for fun and trade, and serious play. We’ve been going at it for a while now. Our play is Upper Deck sanctioned so we have some really nice special ‘extended art’ cards for prizes and participation. Contact Brian at the store (or events@gamesofberkeley.com) for more details.

BIG GREEN MACHINE
Ian Grey (ian@grendelheim.com) sets loose the Elder Gods of ‘Call of Cthulhu’ on Mondays at 6 PM.  For those out of the know, CoC involves investigators caught up in a world of eldritch purple-prose horror, trying franticly to solve mysteries while holding onto their ‘sanity points’--that very rare sort of game where if you’re not belly laughing while getting your pants scared off, you’re kind of missing the point.  17 and over.

MONDAY NIGHT MAGIC…
Come on by at 5 PM, drop $11.00 on the table, and sit down for three rounds or so.  Contact Ralph (Ralph_colby@hotmail.com) for more info.

CATCH THE YELLOW RAT
Pokemon has returned to Games of Berkeley.  The little critters are running loose downstairs at 4 PM, and you’re welcome to come on by and collect as many as you can.  It’s official league play, and you wouldn’t believe the number of players we’ve had coming out of the closet (hint—many of them work in the store).

TUESDAY

BOARDGAME TUESDAY IS BACK!
Our long-running Tuesday Boardgame night wakes up after a year off, and is quickly spreading through the store.  Right now it’s a lot of players turning up and picking what game they want to play.  It’s pretty much run by the Berkeley Boardgamers, so thanks go out to them, but for more store info contact Ralph (ralph_colby@hotmail.com).

I REMEMBER THOSE TWO-HEADED OGRES; WE USED TO CALLED THEM, ‘FATTIES’…
World of Warcraft Tuesday will begin alternating between booster drafts ($10.00) and Constructed Tournaments ($2.50), beginning with constructed on Tuesday the 1st, at 6 PM.    There’ll also be a couple of sanctioned events in July.  Contact Brian at the store for more info.

WEDNESDAY

RECRUITING FOR ANOTHER WORLD
Andy Flores (510 520-2547) has dropped his ‘Red Hand of Doom’ crowd into the Kingdom of Kalamar!  It’s working out pretty well.  He’s full up now, but if you’re interested, go ahead and give him a call.  If you can name the capitol, maybe he can let you in.

THURSDAY

HEROES MEET MONSTERS MEET PIRATES MEET ENDANGERED SPECIES
Daniel (at hypercombofinishko@gmail.com) runs our Thursday Clix and Pirates of the Spanish Main night, at 6:30 PM.  And now, Krissy (hypercombofinishko@gmail.com) will be running XECO demos on Thursday nights, at 6 PM, for anyone interested in a collectable card game with a theme other than magic, power, and who’s-got-the-biggest-sword.  It’s all about endangered species and habitats, where the rares really are…

FRIDAY

DCI FRIDAY NIGHT MAGIC
5 Pm; $11.00; booster draft. Prizes are about a half a dozen boosters (or store credit) for first, and a little less for second and third. Games rated by Wizards of the Coast, and special DCI cards for winning and sportsmanship and such. Come on by and check us out, and keep in mind, we’re also the cheapest Friday Night Magic in the area. Contact Ralph at the store (or events@gamesofberkeley.com) for more details.

FIRST 4.0 THE STORE
Our own Marv (miniony410@gmail.com) started up GoBs first 4.0 on Fridays, at 6 PM.  He’ll be working with what material’s at hand, at this early date, and wants me to let you that it’s BYOM (bring your own minis) for now.  He’s just starting up, and still has a few openings, so if you want to get in on the ground floor of one of the first 4.0 campaigns to launch...

5th ED
Since everyone will be waiting around for the release of the Warhammer 40K 5th Edition, we figured that we would give you something to do.  Friday, July 11th, at 9 PM (that’s at our usual closing), join Charles and Nik (buyer@gamesofberkeley.com, ‘5th Ed info’ in subject line) for a little 1000 point action—scoring for paint—to idle away the hours until Midnight when we’ll crack open the case and begin selling the books.  Regular prizes, folks, on top of the fun a little play and an early chance to see what’s new in the universe.

SATURDAY

LOCAL TRADITION
Yu-Gi-Oh on Saturday—it’s getting to be like the sun rising and setting. Come around at 12:30 on Saturday. A $5.00 entry fee buys you a booster, a shot at prizes, official play, and a chance to rub shoulders with some pretty fun players. Contact Walter at the store (or events@gamesofberkeley.com) for more details.

ALWAYS WHAT I LIKE TO SEE (being an RPG guy…)
A D&D Forgotten Realms campaign (17 years and over) will be setting off on Saturday, June 14th, at 12 Noon.  But it’s going to be 3.5, so put away those new books.  I lean a bit to the old system myself, so good luck to Travis Harrison Adcock (mellowmaveric@yahoo.com for more info).

EVENIN’ ALL
Saturday, July 26th, 11 AM, will be our Eventide release party.  $20.00 buys you into a sealed event.  Special prizes and a foilly card for all entrants.  Contact Ralph (Ralph_Colby@hotmail.com) for more info, and be sure to ask him just what the hell a ‘foilly’ card is.

AND THAT’S NOT ALL
When we’re not throwing release events, we’ve still got our venerable Saturday Morning Draft (it was going on when I first started working here).  $11.00 buys you in, and a handful of boosters is your prize.  You know how it works; if you’re a Magic player, you’ve been her before.
