Board Gaming and other Special Events

7 Jan 2020

In addition to events for specific games and systems, we host other regularly scheduled and special events covering a variety of interests and themes.

(Please CLICK HERE for important information regarding children's participation in events.)

In the past we have hosted "Locally-Grown" designer nights, mini-conventions, and general open board game nights. We are currently rescheduling these events and hope to have them added back to our weekly schedule soon. Keep an eye on our website, social media, and calendar.

We also participate in several nationally-sponsored events including Free RPG Day and Pop-Up Gen Con. More information on these can be found on our Calendar.

OPEN GAME NIGHT

Not sure how to spice up your Monday night? We have open board game night every Monday evening beginning at 5 pm. Try out any of the more than 400 titles in our game library or feel free to bring your own!

Every Third Monday of the month at 5:00 PM, Games of Berkeley hosts the East Bay Protospiel Club—an informal group of local game designers who bring out their prototypes to playtest, refine rules, consult feedback, and more. Stop by and play a game that isn't published yet! Please just get permission from designers before taking and posting any pictures of their games. Consult our CALENDAR to confirm days. Bring some friends or meet some new ones!

Board Game night is subject to our standard $5 event registration.

PAINT & HOBBY NIGHT

Weekly Paint n' Hobby night is on a hiatus while we build interest in more regular events. However, the final Monday of every month (sometimes the fourth Monday, sometimes the fifth) Paintmaster Paul will host a Paint n' Take event using WizKids' Paint Night Kits. These kits include everything you need to get started, including brushes, paints, and—of course—a mini! Paint n' Take classes are $15 and you get to take everything home with you! Please check the CALENDAR for details.

HEALTH AND SAFETY POLICIES - Updated 5/15/22

Games of Berkeley currently requires all event participants to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 -- that's 2 Pfizer or Moderna shots, or 1 Johnson & Johnson shot, at least two weeks prior to the event. Please be prepared to show proof of vaccination when you arrive at the store. In accordance with current City of Berkeley and Alameda County health measures, all patrons must wear a mask at all times while in the store.

We currently have a 36-person capacity total in our back event space, and an 8-person capacity in each of the side gaming rooms. If we are at capacity, we will unfortunately not be able to admit more event participants for event taking place in that room.

We currently require all event participants to wear N95, KN95, or KF94 masks while in the store. If you do not have one, we have a supply available in the event room for you to use.
