TICKET TO RIDE: RAILS & SAILS
Ticket to Ride: Rails & Sails takes the familiar gameplay of Ticket to Ride and expands it across the globe — which means that you'll be moving across water, of course, and that's where the sails come in.
For those that have not played a Ticket to Ride game, the core principle is the same. Over the course of the game, players collect cards in order to then claim routes on the game board between two cities. Ideally the players create a network of routes that connect the cities showing on their secret ticket cards. Players score points both for claiming routes and for completing tickets, with incomplete tickets counting against a player's score.
In Rails & Sails players use colored train tokens and colored ship tokens. Which means a split deck of train and ship cards. Claiming routes with ships brings a whole new struggle to play, including harbors players must spend cards in their hand to place in a coastal city. These harbors allow players to use their ship tokens to claim water routes between each placed harbor.
Ticket to Ride: Rails & Sails includes a double-sided game board, with one side showing the world and the other side showing the Great Lakes of North America. Players start with a differing number of cards and tokens depending on which side they play, and each side has a few differences in gameplay.
