Smash Up: That 70s Expansion is an expansion to the "shufflebuilding" game Smash Up.
These style of games involve starting with a small deck that you draw from every turn. As you play, you'll gain other cards that you'll shuffle in along the way.Â
There are different faction types among the cards in this expansion. These factions involve some different mechanism of play. The combinations in your hand help you to defeat your opponents bases.Â
Smash Up: That 70s Expansion has a lot of fun new factions to bring to the table:Â
- Truckers
- Vigilantes
- Disco Dancers
- Kung Fu Fighters
With a battle like that, I'm going to need some popcorn. I'm serious. Please make a movie about this. I mean, read that list and just think about it!
Anyway... to begin, take the 20-card decks of two factions, shuffle them into a deck of forty cards, then compete to crush more Bases than your opponents. When a base is smashed, each player in first, second and third place scores points.
This game has a very fun and cartoon-like theme to it. There are multiple expansions to Smash Up that help to expand this game, introducing new factions and different card mechanics along with it.
What's great about the expansions to Smash Up, is that they specifically come with 4 factions, so that two players can play these expansions without the need for the base game.Â
